For the second year in a row, I had the privilege of photographing KIDS CARE's Backing the Need Backpack & School Supply Drive at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta, Georgia—and it's become one of my favorite events to document. What's even more meaningful is that this didn't start with my camera. My daughter and I have been participating in Backing the Need for years, volunteering before I ever photographed the event. Watching this incredible community initiative grow year after year has been such a rewarding experience.

Seeing local families, businesses, volunteers, and community partners come together to make sure Cobb County students have the backpacks and school supplies they need for a successful school year is a powerful reminder of what makes our community so special. Since launching in 2021, Backing the Need has helped provide more than 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students, thanks to the generosity of volunteers, donors, and partners across Cobb County. As a Marietta photographer, I love telling stories that matter—and this is one I'll always say yes to. Every smile, every backpack packed, every volunteer, and every donation represents hope for a child heading back to school.
