Gossett Photography | How to Rock the #Bosslady Sesh

March 06, 2017  •  23 Comments

Gather around fellow Boss Babes - today I'm answering common questions I get about The Boss Lady Sesh. We're talking about how to make the most out of your shoot and why they are so important.

What is a "Boss Lady" Sesh and why do I need one?

A "Boss Lady Sesh" is a professional portrait session for the stylish entrepreneur. This image is used as your profile picture on social media and is featured on your website. From Business Cards to Billboards, Album Covers to Magazine Features, Book Jackets to E-books, we sell each license seperate so you pay for only what you need. This is how you introduce yourself. This is your first impression.

Where does a shoot like this take place?

When you book, I'll be asking you about your brand- It's helpful for me to see mood boards, pinterest boards, your instagram account and website- anything that tells me who you are and how you want to present yourself moving forward. After I have a sense of your brand, I can make a few location suggestions. Sometimes I will suggest a backdrop - black, white, grey or a bright and bold pop of color - all popular choices for a more formal headshot. In that case, I either bring my mobile studio to you- lights, backdrop and all- or you come into the studio. We'll decide that together. Other times, your brand will call for a more editorial look- depicting your lifestyle. Whether that be in a cafe, your workspace or office, or some place in your home, this is all about a polished yet candid behind the scenes of your #bosslady life. Dependent upon the natural light of the space, I may bring additional lighting - I work with both on camera & off camera flash and in some situations I bring in studio lights. Another option is outdoors- this could be on a patio, in a park or in the city. Whatever your brand needs... we can accomplish it. I can't wait to select the perfect location and set your stage.

How should I prepare for my photoshoot?

I would recommend treating yourself to make-up and hair on the day of your big shoot. These artists are trained specifically to enhance your natural beauty and unique features, giving you a welcomed confidence boost on set! On camera make-up is generally heavier than most people feel comfortable applying themselves and studio lighting calls for make-up techniques the average woman might not have mastered. I'm happy to set this up for you or I can give you a list of recommended vendors. Gossett Photography includes Make-Up and Hair in all pageantry headshots for ages 10 and up.

What should I wear?

I would recommend bringing at least two outfits to a 60 minute photoshoot at one location. Dress to represent your brand, but also play to your strengths and take into consideration what makes you feel beautiful. Some clients opt to bring one summer/spring outfit and a fall/winter look as well... to make sure they've always got a seasonally appropriate image to represent themselves. Gossett Photography works often with select boutiques and personal stylists. Should you choose to make a new purchase specifically for the shoot or need a professional to put you together from head to toe, we are happy to make the introduction!

How many images will I receive and how do I get them?

A few days after your session, you will receive a password and a link that takes you to your proofing gallery. The number of images you may choose for final edits is dependent upon the package you purchase. Make your selection by making them "favorites" (using the heart icon) and "send to photographer" to let me know you have finalized your choice. After re-touching these images, no later than one week after your selection has been finalized, I will upload them into your gallery and make them available for download.

For more a pricing guide and availability, please e-mail me at [email protected] I can't wait to learn more about your brand!
